Emphasize the rural theater arts of border areas by P. R. Krishnamurthy

Gudibande: Sanskara Bharati State Coordinator P.R.Krishnamurthy said that rural theater is a catalyst for improving the living standards of the rural people of the border area and it is the responsibility of everyone to preserve and cultivate rural art.

Inaugurating cultural survey of 4 border villages, village development seminar and cultural programs in collaboration with Karnataka Border Area Development Authority, Jankalyana Trust, Gram Vikas and Karnataka Ranga Parishad Central Committee Bangalore in Dabarti village of taluk, he said, Gudibande taluk is adjacent to neighboring Andhra Pradesh and the taluk has traditional theater forms. It has several folk troupes including Mukhaveena Vadana, Bhajan, Kolata, Purani Natak Prardana, Tamatevadana, Jade Kolata. These are on the verge of extinction in the near future, the Karnataka Border Area Development Authority is planning such programs to introduce these traditional theater forms to the next generation.
Real talent lies in rural people. Cultural attitudes have been with Indians for thousands of years. It is significant that Natya Shastra was created in our country before the birth of modern theatre. It is not right to be seduced by foreign culture and neglect indigenous art. He said that rural art should not be used only for entertainment but should be used to improve people’s judgment and way of life.

Gram Panchayat Chairperson Shilpaharish said that according to the cultural survey report of Dabarti Gram Panchayat, more cultural programs will be emphasized and encouraged on behalf of the Gram Panchayat. In the program, Dabarti school students performed kolat and cultural programs. Dhabarthi, Gavikuntahalli, villagers performed Kolata, Tamate, Bhajan.

Karnataka Rajyotsava, folklore award winning mukhaveena Anjinappa played mukhaveena. Vahini Suresh presented the report of rural cultural survey. Rajagopal told about village development programs.
